Development
All development projects occurring within the district that apply for building permits will be reviewed by the sanitation district for compliance with wastewater-specific codes, standards, policies, and criteria. The Grand County Department of Community Development provides building inspection services for all areas of the district.
All connected properties are required to conform to the district's Rules and Regulations and Development Standards, and Construction Specifications. The districts' review process checklist and submission criteria should be utilized in all portions of design and development.
Prior to beginning work on occupied spaces, development approval must be obtained. This is the process for purchasing sewer taps and submitting building plans and specifications.
The Districts Devlopment Standards contain the detailed process for development review. These standards and processes apply to all properties regardless of use or complexity of work. The District must approve all projects prior to the issuance of building permits. If you have questions about the process, contact sanmanager@townofkremmling.org
- Conduct a pre-construction meeting with the District. Schedule a meeting by emailing sanmanager@townofkremmling.org. The purpose of this meeting is to determine the scope of work and the necessary applications.
- Submit a preliminary plan (site plan) to the District by emailing it to sanmanager@townofkremmling.org. The District will evaluate the site plan and may ask for resubmission to adjust any comments. Once approved, the District will provide a site plan approval letter.
- Submit a building permit application to the Grand County Department of Community Development. Include in the building permit submission plans and specifications for your proposed sewer lines and utility infrastructure, and a copy of the preliminary plan approval letter. Review the Development Standards to ensure that you are meeting the requirements of the District.
- The County will route the building permit to the District for review of the final construction plans and specifications. The District may ask for resubmission to adjust any comments. Once approved, the District will provide a final plan approval letter and invoice for applicable fees, which will be sent to the County and added to the permit file.
- Make payment of any required fees.
- The District will issue a Sewer Connection Permit and advise the County that the building permit can be approved.
- Upon approval of the building permit by the County, construct the work. Schedule any required inspections with the District 48 hours in advance by emailing sandistrict@townofkremmling.org.
- Once all inspections are complete, work is approved, and any applicable inspection fees are paid, the District will provide you with an inspection approval letter, which you will then provide to the County for issuance of a certificate of occupancy. After the inspection approval letter is issued, the District will begin monthly billing for sewer service.
